Cocktail Culture

What a fabulous weekend it was, and we have lots of catching up to do! To give me time to upload photos from our July 4th festivities, I'll distract you with photos from another fabulous event we attended in June.

Do you all remember the exhibit I told you about at the RIDS museum featuring couture cocktail dresses from Chanel, Dior, and even Lilly Pulitzer? This was such a fabulous exhibit, I simply have to share photos with you! (As many photos as I could snap before politely being asked to refrain from photography... tee hee.)

Arriving at the RISD museum on a gorgeous June day.

At the entrance of the exhibit... I want these prints for the walls of my wardrobing room, pretty please!

First peek into the room... let the swooning begin!

Cocktail Culture. Now this is what I call art!

Vintage couture.

A Lilly shift circa 1969!

The rise of the little black dress... j'adore!

Designer cocktail dresses galore! Oscar de la Renta, Dior, and Chanel, oh my!

Here is the description from the RISD site:

Cocktail Culture: Ritual and Invention in American Fashion, 1920-1980 is the first multi-disciplinary exhibition to explore the social ritual of the cocktail hour through the lens of fashion and design.

Organized by the RISD Museum of Art’s Department of Costume and Textiles, Cocktail Culture features stunning fashion apparel from Balenciaga to Schiaparelli, jewelry, textiles, decorative and fine art, film, photographs, and more. More than 220 objects are included, drawn from the Museum’s vast holdings and loans from other museums and private collections.

Ah-mazing. If you are in the Providence area before July 31st, this is a must-see event!

Play along with Daphne for Semi-Wordless Wednesday too! XOXO

I would love those prints as well! What a fun exhibit. I am drooling over every single dress in the last picture. Could you imagine wearing one of those with fabulous t-straps for a night out in Paris to listen to jazz? ;)

OMG!!! I would totally spend all day looking at those designs and then go home and try to make them all at once until the ADD kicked in!
Looks like a wonderful time. Thanks for linking up to SWW and have an awesome week!
