Chicago in Black & White

Saturday night, the mister and I patronized the arts and headed into town to see Chicago. The 20s fashion, the scandal, the singing and dancing...it was fantastic!

What does one wear for a night at the theatre? Black, white, and pops of hot pink and turquoise, of course!

Top J.Crew (past season), Shorts Loft (similar), Shoes Cole Haan, Clutch J.Crew Factory (available in store), Turquoise jewels gifted from the mister

PS - J.Crew is having a major sale right now: extra 40% off final sale items with code STYLE40

Champagne with a Summer Twist

When I saw this summer cocktail on the Glitter Guide, I immediately bookmarked it as a must-make. Champagne with watermelon and a hint of mint? Brilliant! The best part...it's PINK!

To mix one cocktail:
-Champagne
-Small Watermelon
-Lemonade
-Mint

1. Chop watermelon into small pieces and tear mint into bite size portions.
2. Place 1/8th of watermelon and a handful of mint into a shaker. Top with 3 tablespoons of lemonade and muddle until the watermelon becomes liquid.
3. Strain the mixture into a glass and top with champagne!

Pink, Lime, Prints, and Flowers

I mentioned last week that I was traveling to Greenville for the Southern Blog Society South Carolina meetup. I had an absolute ball chatting with Will, Tiffany, Dixie, and Andrew- they are the sweetest group!

Cappuccino and croissants at a French bakery called for girly glamour, so I loaded on the bright colors, full skirts, pretty patterns, and bold accessories. I couldn't wait to shoot the outfit when I returned home. To the dock!

Outfit details: top Milly for Banana Republic (on sale!), skirt J.Crew Factory, belt Kate Spade, shoes Prabal Gurung for Target (no longer available), clutch J.Crew Factory, watch Kate Spade

Seaside Chic

I mentioned that I am constantly looking for decor inspiration for our beach condo while it is under renovation. When I saw these pillows on Rue La La, I was smitten.

Seaside chic to perfection, oui?

Southern Blog Society

Upon moving down south, I was thrilled to join the Southern Blog Society. After seeing the lovely Julie, Shelby, and Katie post photos from the SBS Brunch, I knew this was a southern gal must! I am honored to belong to a group of fabulous fashionistas, and I cannot wait to meet new bloggers.

This weekend, each state has planned a meet up to get everyone together, network, and have some fun! South Carolina's meet up includes breakfast at a French bakery (be still my heart!) and painting. Be sure to follow along on Instagram for an inside peek!

Design Inspiration

I may have mentioned that we are fully renovating our new condo here on Hilton Head Island. While it is no fun living out of suitcases with boxes strewn around us (those boxes contain my wardrobe...it's killing me to be so limited!), selecting every element for our new space is a ball! Paint colors, kitchen cabinets and counter tops, furniture, chandeliers, wall hangings...I love it all.

We are living on the beach, so I want to keep everything very light with fun pops of color. Think, pale seaglass walls, a white kitchen, bright printed pillows, whimsical lighting, and ocean inspired accents. I think these rooms pulled from House Beautiful and Coastal Living perfectly fit the bill.

I cannot wait for the big reveal once it is complete (and to have access to my clothes and accessories again)

Orange and Navy

Although orange has never been my favorite color, navy and orange is climbing the ranks as one of my favorite pairings. Add ruffles, bows, and stripes, and I'm sold.

Dress Dizzy Lizzie, Bag Louis Vuitton, Sandals Stephen Bonanno, Watch Kate Spade

I purchased this dress after the Angela Moore Fashion Show during Newport Tennis Week with my mother. I think it's the perfect dress to take you from daytime to dinner and is appropriate for endless occasions. (It also adds a little variety among a summer wardrobe of Lilly dresses.)

If You Like Piña Coladas...

Did y'all know that today is National Piña Colada Day? The perfect excuse to break out the blender and enjoy a frozen treat. Today I'm sharing the recipe for a delicious (and healthy healthier) take on this cocktail.

Photo and recipe credits: Spabettie

1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
11.2 ounces coconut water (small container)
1/3 cup coconut milk
1 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored and cubed
2 cups ice
3/4 cup rum

In saucepan over medium heat, combine flaked coconut, water and milk. Simmer until it just bubbles (do not boil), about 7 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool. Transfer to covered container and refrigerate (I cooled overnight).

Quarter pineapple lengthwise, reserving 1/4 for garnish (slice garnish into wedges). Remove skin and core from remaining 3/4 pineapple, chop into cubes. Arrange on baking sheet and freeze until firm, at least one hour (I froze overnight).

Strain coconut mixture, pressing/squeezing to save as much liquid as possible. Discard solids.
Combine frozen pineapple, ice, and rum in blender, process until smooth. Add coconut mixture and continue to blend. Pour into glasses and garnish with pineapple wedge. Serves 4 (depending on your glass size!)

Chin chin!
